Night to Shine

November 13, 2020 | KSC News

Night to Shine WILL be happening in 2021, but it will look a little different this time around, and we wanted to fill you in.

If you’ve never heard of Night to Shine, it’s a worldwide movement for people with special needs, held simultaneously on one night all around the world.  It is a celebration of God’s love — an unforgettable experience that highlights the value of life. It is a night when all guests are kings and queens of the prom, and most importantly, it is a night for Christ to shine!

Due to the global circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the safety of every honored guest with special needs as a top priority, Night to Shine 2021 will be a virtual experience. The unique virtual event will be complete with all of the treasured prom elements, such as every guest will get to enjoy music, dancing, prom favors, messages from special guests, all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned king or queen of the prom.

Tim Tebow, founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation, says, “The reason Night to Shine is so special to me is because all the boys, all of the girls, that the rest of the world has forgotten, that so many times we haven’t clapped for, we haven’t cheered for, we haven’t loved. This is the night where we get to bring them together and say, ‘you matter, we love you and we are throwing this awesome party because that’s how special you are.’ This is why we knew we couldn’t cancel Night to Shine 2021. Our heart is always to love and encourage and it’s never to put anyone at risk and that is why we are confident in our decision to celebrate Night to Shine 2021 as a fully virtual experience.”

What to Expect in 2021:

DRIVE THROUGH: Guests will be invited to visit the Antrim Brethren in Christ parking lot on the night of the event, to have their photo taken and to receive a gift bag containing a meal for the guest and one friend/buddy, special surprises, flowers, and a crown/tiara.  Guests should stay in their car, and not get out during the drive-through.

  • Guests with last name ending in A-M: 5:30-6:15 pm
  • Guests with last name ending in N-Z: 6:15-7:00 pm

ONLINE SIMULCAST: The guest can then return home, and watch the online simulcast.  The simulcast will include dancing, special guests, a message from Tim Tebow, and a crowning ceremony.  We invite family and friends to photograph the guest throughout the evening, and upload those photos to a photo share site.

Notes: We will not be offering a Ladies Boutique or Men’s Shoppe this year.  Our event will be limited to 200 guests.

Registration begins at nighttoshine2021.com on Monday, November 16.

Volunteering with Night to Shine:

We will need a number of volunteers to help with the event:

  • Photographers to take pictures of our guests in the drive-thru line
  • Greeters/paparazzi to cheer for our guests when they drive by
  • Helpers to pack up the meals and distribute the gift bags
  • Traffic directors
  • Tech team to communicate and assist guests who are unsure how to access and broadcast the simulcast

Register to serve at Night to Shine Volunteers on Monday, November 16.
