We’ve Got Questions
Why didn’t God answer my prayer?
Experience & Encounter
These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.
- God did not grant Jesus’ request to allow the cup of vicarious suffering to pass from him (Matt. 26:39) and as a result, God hears each prayer for salvation in Christ. How does it speak to you that Christ knows what it is like to have a prayer request not be granted?
- Is there anything that you have stopped praying for because God hasn’t yet answered? How can you start praying again?
- In his book The Magician’s Nephew, C.S. Lewis opines about Aslan, the figure for Christ, that while Aslan is very willing to help, that “he likes to be asked.” Why might God enjoy receiving our prayer requests? While God does not grant every prayer request, what develops in us as we develop a habit of asking God for our needs and desires?

Got Questions?
You’re invited to contribute to our current sermon series, We’ve Got Questions. During our Midweek Connection videos (view them at kingstreetchurch.com/the-hub, or on our YouTube channel). As part of this series, Pastor Aaron will answer a selection of your questions during the Midweek Connection videos. If you have a spiritual question, please email it to [email protected].
Support Our Students
Today in the lobbies, you’ll find boards with prayer cards for those participating in this summer’s Guatemala Mission Trip. This year, two teams of students will be serving on separate trips, so we need your financial support more than ever—please consider taking a card, making a donation, and committing to pray for and encourage the person on your card.
While at Eagle’s Nest Children’s Home, our teams will spend time caring for and encouraging children—leading games and activities, helping with lessons, and simply building relationships that reflect Christ’s love. Above all, they’ll be sharing joy, attention, and hope with children who deeply need it. We are grateful for your partnership in sending our young people to serve with Eagle’s Nest International.
Kazakhstan Trip Meeting TODAY
If you’re interested in joining a KSC-led mission trip to Kazakhstan this fall, attend a meeting TODAY at 1:00 pm in Team Central (M119). This trip would partner with Orphan’s Tree, a ministry that helps adult orphans transition to independent living through spiritual and practical support. For questions, contact Pastor John Smith.
New Sunday School Class
We are considering a new Sunday school class for young adults that will include guided discussion, biblical teaching, friendship, and community around topics generated by leaders and the group alike. If you are part of The Porch and looking for a Sunday connection, this is a great opportunity. Learn more about the class at the interest meeting on Sunday, May 17, at 11:00 am in room M17.
KSC Golf League
KSC golfers, mark your calendars! Our Tuesday evening golf league at Conocodell Golf Club begins May 5, with a 5:30 pm shotgun start. This is a relaxed, fun league with a different format each week—perfect for golfers of all skill levels. Cost is $12 to walk or $18 to ride, and there are no league fees or weekly commitments, so you can join whenever your schedule allows. Feel free to bring family and friends! The season runs through August 25. Questions, contact Jim Byers at (717) 372-9742.
Now Hiring

Vacation Bible School
VBS is June 21-24 for kids age 4 through the completion of 5th grade. Kingdom Quest is an immersive, adventure-style VBS that takes kids on a journey through imaginative worlds to discover what it means to follow Jesus and live in God’s kingdom. It focuses on the story of Peter to teach courage and faith, featuring high-energy worship, daily challenges, and interactive themes.
- Volunteers: VBS takes a large team of support! Crew leaders are a vital part of the team; they travel around through VBS with a group of 3-5 children. We also need people to help behind-the-scenes. Visit the tables in the lobbies or visit our VBS page to sign up today! Please join this amazing adventure!
- Registration: Sign up for kids aged 4 through the completion of 5th grade will open on Sunday, May 24.
Graduates
One of our favorite traditions is honoring our graduates with a video. High school/undergrad students who wish to be included should forward a digital picture (preferably a senior photo or high quality image) to Lauren Zook. Include what school you have graduated from and any future plans. The deadline to submit your information is Sunday, May 24.
Blood Drive
King Street Church is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, May 28, from 12:30–6:00 pm in the Baker Center gym, in honor of Isabel Schuster. During her leukemia treatment, Isabel received many blood transfusions—now in her maintenance phase, this is a meaningful way to give back and help others in need. Appointments are required. Sign up HERE (enter 17201) or call 800-RED-CROSS. To help serve at the drive, contact Pastor Rob Gunkelman.
Support Our Ministry Partner
Pregnancy Ministries Walk for Life: Pregnancy Ministries, Inc (PMI) will hold their 2026 Walk for Life on Saturday, May 30 at Norlo Park, pavilion 2. PMI offers free pregnancy support in a caring environment. To find the details on how to register for the walk (or to sponsor their event), visit their event webpage.
RESET
RESET meets on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the Student Ministry Center. This is a place where you can be real, be authentic, and find community for growing in Christ. If you are feeling stuck in your spiritual journey, RESET is a powerful avenue of discipleship. Come and see!
- We are looking for childcare workers to serve during RESET on Monday evenings. Volunteers work alongside a partner to care for 6–8 children for about two hours, helping create a safe and welcoming space for families. This support is a vital way to serve, making it possible for parents to attend RESET and grow in their faith. Reach out to Susanna if you can help.
Prayer
We believe that God works powerfully through prayer!
- There is a table in each of our worship spaces and you’re invited to use it to take or leave a Prayer Card.
- You can also submit a request to our online Prayer Wall, or text pray to (717) 401-7777.
- Please feel free to stop by the Prayer Room (Central Hallway) anytime on Sunday morning! Check out the available resources! On the first and third Sundays of each month, Missy Ardinger will host a dedicated time of prayer for our church, community, nation and world. Everyone is welcome — whether you’d like to pray aloud, share requests, or simply sit quietly in God’s presence.

The whole groups meets on the 1st/3rd Thursdays of each month in the Student Ministry Center at 7:00 pm. Men and women meet separately for small groups on the 2nd/4th Thursdays. Visit us @ThePorchKSC (social media), our webpage, or email us
Men’s Alliance Tribe
King Street Church has launched a Men’s Alliance tribe led by Justin Shirk. It’s a weekly gathering where men are strengthened through real brotherhood, biblical truth, and physical challenge. They meet each Saturday at 8:00 am behind the KSC Ministry Center for a 30 minute workout and devotional around a fire. Come build friendships, be encouraged, and take a step toward deeper spiritual growth.
Adult Sunday School
Sunday School classes are a place where adults can plug-in, make friends, become accountable, and share life with others. Classes serve as mini congregations that support missionaries, engage in ministries, and fellowship outside of class. We also offer Bible Studies for both men and women. See a list of adult Sunday School classes and links to the pages for men/women HERE.
Chronological Bible Reading Plan
We encourage everyone to read the Bible daily, and one way we support that is through our annual Bible Reading Plan. In 2026, we will once again participate in the Chronological Plan with The Bible Recap videos. Those already signed up will be included automatically. The plan is available in multiple formats.
If you have never participated in the plan, we encourage you to join the more than 400 people who use these readings as part of their daily devotions. The plan is offered several ways. Those who are already signed up will be included in the new plan.
