Connect through Zoom

April 24, 2020 | KSC News, Worship

We enthusiastically encourage all of our church family to consider a Zoom group!  We have had a VERY positive response from members of our church family who have chosen to interact in this way.  Even those who were concerned about navigating the technology, and those who were unsure if they could make meaningful connections through a screen, have been pleasantly surprised!

We hope, if you are feeling disconnected, that you will consider this avenue to meeting others and sharing life together during this time.  We would encourage you to fill out the interest form below even if you are not sure about committing to a group!  Our pastors can discuss options with you and help you find a way to connect that is most helpful for you.

What is Zoom?

Zoom is a program that facilitates video-conferencing.  This means that your device’s camera will allow a live stream of YOU to be shared with the group.  Squares appear on your screen, showing everyone who is participating.

If you aren’t familiar with Zoom, here is a YouTube video that explains the system:  Learn about Zoom.  There are just a few steps involved in joining a meeting:

  1. Download Zoom to your device before the meeting.
  2. Check your email for a meeting link.
  3. Respond to your device’s prompts as they appear, such as, “Join with computer video.”

If you are interested in joining a group but need help with learning more about Zoom, we would be happy to help you with that; please don’t let this be a roadblock to your involvement.  Just let us know in the notes section below.

L3 Groups and Sunday School Classes

Many L3 Groups and Sunday School classes have been meeting online using Zoom.  It’s a GREAT time to get involved in either of these types of groups.  While the setup and routine maybe be different here during the coronavirus pandemic, here are a few differences in the groups outside of this season:

  1. L3 Groups normally meet during the week at someone’s home; they use a curriculum from the Navigators that has been provided by our pastors.
  2. Sunday School classes normally meet on Sunday mornings either before or after worship services.  They choose their own study material and format.

In the interest form below, describe what kind of group you are interested in joining. You can describe your age category, if you would enjoy being with others of a similar age.  You can describe a season of life, such as “we are a young family.”   What matters to you?  What are you looking for in a group?  Share your heart with us!
