Walk This Way: Walking Alone

Experience & Encounter

These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.

  1. Martha and Mary both say to Jesus, “If you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Martha, hearing Jesus has arrived, goes out to Jesus and speaks her mind to him. Mary, only after hearing that Jesus has asked for her, goes out to him. Are you more like Martha or Mary? Will you bring your complaint to God or do you need to hear that God is asking for you?
  2. Have you been walking (or practicing something else, like listening to music, pondering a Psalm, or reading a story from Jesus’ life) to practice the presence of Jesus this week? What has that experience been like?
  3. Lazarus’ sickness result in his death, but death was not his end. In fact, Lazarus’ death was a means for God’s glory because God would raise him up. Our sin-sickness led to Jesus’ death, but death was not the end of Jesus. While the effects of sin-sickness are all around us, we serve a risen Savior. What evidence of resurrection do you see? How can you bear witness to Jesus, the resurrected Messiah this week?

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 JOHN 1:7 NIV
