EXPERIENCE & ENCOUNTER

These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.

  1. The prophet Micah has both harsh warnings of consequences but also hopeful futures of restoration. Chapter 7, as a whole, contains both. Which stands out to you most? Why should we attend to both warnings and promises?
  2. God is involved and implicated in the judgment (e.g., 1:2-7, 12); and the blessing (e.g., 2:12-13; 4:1-3; 7:18-20) of His people. Ultimately, God’s personal investment is seen in the person of Jesus Christ, who bears the judgment of all people and through whom all people are blessed. Why should we remember that God is involved both in the consequences of sin and the blessings?
  3. Maintaining a personal relationship with God through friendship with Christ is not easy. It can only be done by the Spirit of God at work in us. Here we see the practical importance of the doctrine/teaching of the Trinity: our personal relationship with God is being drawn into the personal relationship of God and in God. We are meant to get a foretaste and glimpse of this relationship as we belong to the church. How can you reflect God in your relationships within the church this week?
