Small Books, Big Voices: Amos
Experience & Encounter
These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.
- While Amos records judgments against the nations, most of his writing is about God’s judgment of His own people in Israel and Judah. What does this tell us about God?
- Time and again, Amos speaks up for the poor (e.g., Amos 2:6-7; 4:1) and for those the justice system has failed (e.g., Amos 5:10, 12, 15). Justice is often a difficult topic for Christians to talk about without disagreeing. What are some acts of justice that can be done in Jesus’ name?
- Amos intercedes before the Lord for the people and God forgives the people (Amos 7:1-6). Where do you see a need for God’s justice? How can you maintain a heart of love to pray for those who sit under God’s judgment?
