God’s Story, Our Stories – The Church: God’s Chosen People in God’s Beloved World
Experience & Encounter
These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.
- Where do you see people experiencing “exile” in our world? How have you seen King Street Church, personally or corporately, be the church—the body of Jesus Christ—to a world in exile?
- The New Testament has several pictures the church, including as a flock of sheep (John 18:16-18), a temple (2 Cor. 6:16), the bride of Christ (Rev. 21:2), and the body of Christ (Col. 1:18; Eph. 5:23-24). Which of these pictures resonates with you? Is there one that you struggle with?
- Peter teaches that our identity as a people is rooted in being chosen by God. Christians belong to a people, the church, that extends beyond familial bonds, physical borders, and the bounds of time. Does that impact our living? If so, how? If not, how might it start to make a difference in our lives?
