Easter with King Street Church

HOLY WEEK BIBLE READINGS

During these difficult times we need Jesus more than ever in our lives!  As we look forward to Easter Sunday, let us prepare our hearts together by focusing on Jesus during the last week of His life.  We encourage our church family to read the following chapters from the book of Matthew.  Be intentional about setting aside time to read and meditate on these critical moments from the life of Christ:

  • Palm Sunday: Matthew 21
  • Monday: Matthew 22
  • Tuesday: Matthew 23
  • Wednesday: Matthew 24-25
  • Thursday: Matthew 26
  • Good Friday: Matthew 27
  • Saturday: Psalm 22
  • Easter Sunday: Matthew 28

MAUNDY THURSDAY COMMUNION SERVICE

  • Thursday, April 9, at 7:00 pm
  • Online: Facebook and kingstreetchurch.tv, and through our channels on Roku and Apple TV

On Thursday, April 9, you are invited to join us online for a Maundy Thursday Communion Service. Pastor Jody will be leading us in Scripture, a responsive reading, prayer, and the sharing of elements.

We ask that you prepare the elements in advance; you can use chunks of bread or crackers and juice of any kind.  Set these elements in the room where you plan to worship.  We encourage you to choose a special dish or cloth as part of your display; consider lighting a candle.  These suggestions are to help in creating a sacred moment as we take communion together.

The word “maundy” is an abbreviated form of the Latin word “mandatum,” which means command, or mandate.  When Jesus was sharing the Last Supper with His disciples He told them, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”  (John 13:34)

We celebrate Maundy Thursday to remember the Last Supper, to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus, and to meditate on this commandment to love and serve others.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS:  A Self-Guided Virtual Journey

  • Friday, April 10, from 12-3 pm (join within this time frame)

On Good Friday, we will keep vigil with Christ through a virtual version of “Stations of the Cross,” developed by Ruth Haley Barton at Transforming Center.

The time will include a podcast, “Stations of the Cross Prayer Service,” which will facilitate your journey.  A downloadable PDF, “An Invitation to Walk with Christ” will offer Scripture, prayers, and songs for each part of Christ’s journey.  The 12 stations include moments such as Jesus Takes Up His Cross, Jesus Falls for the First Time, Simon of Cyrene Helps Jesus to Carry His Cross, and Jesus Dies Upon the Cross.

As we participate in this spiritual experience, absorbing – as much as possible – what our Lord endured on our behalf, it is our hope that it will increase our devotion to Him and heighten our excitement for His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

We hope you will set aside a time to participate in the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday.  Here are the links:

GOOD FRIDAY: Fasting and Prayer

EASTER SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES

  • Sunday, April 12, at 8:00 am (Traditional), 9:30 am and 11:00 am (Contemporary)
  • Online: Facebook and kingstreetchurch.tv, and through our channels on Roku and Apple TV

Let’s celebrate the resurrection of Jesus together!  We may not be in the same room when we worship the Lord this Easter, but that won’t keep us from raising a collective Hallelujah! in His name!

We will sing, pray, and hear a special message from Pastor Jody from Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

The coronavirus may cause us to change our usual manner of meeting, but – PRAISE GOD! – it cannot change the incredible truth that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day!  We will not forget His victory this April 12.

4/12 ONLINE WORSHIP SERVICE

  • Sunday April 12 (4/12), at 4:12 pm
  • Online: Facebook

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved!” Acts 4:12

On Easter Sunday, April 12 (4/12) King Street Church is going to celebrate the hope and salvation we find in the risen savior, Jesus!

Leading up to Easter, the King Street Church staff has been sharing truth from Scripture and praying at 4:12 pm each day. On Easter (4/12) at 4:12 we want to invite you to participate in a church wide video celebration of Jesus and who He is.

We invite you to send videos in advance that will be edited together for a digital worship service. This can be a song, a prayer, reading of Scripture, sharing of a testimony of how you have seen God at work at this time, sharing of a poem/writing or other celebrations of who Jesus is.

If you are considering sharing a video check out the details and fill out an interest form at https://kingstreetchurch.com/the-hub/412worship/

Please submit all videos by Wednesday, April 8 at Noon
