I have had a relationship with Jesus for as long as I can remember. When I was young, I received The Action Bible as a gift from the church we attended in Richmond. It became one of my favorite books to read and that Bible really helped me grow closer to Jesus.
When I was in elementary school, I developed a phobia called Emetophobia which is a fear of throwing up. It got worse as I got older and by the time I was in middle school I could barely leave my house. I was so afraid that I would throw up that I had panic attacks multiple times a day. The one thing that brought me comfort was praying. I prayed and I asked my parents to pray and that was the only thing that would calm me down. Knowing that God was with me was the comfort I needed in those moments. It calmed me down because I knew that Jesus had me in his arms.
I’m still dealing with the phobia, but trusting in Christ has showed me that my fear isn’t stronger than God. He is with me every step and helps me overcome challenges every day. Today, I’m choosing to be baptized because I know that God has always been there for me. Through every challenge and every moment of doubt, he has been my strength and my support. I have felt him guiding me, comforting me, and never letting me go.
