We’ve Got Questions: Why didn’t God answer my prayer?

1. God did not grant Jesus’ request to allow the cup of vicarious suffering to pass from him (Matt. 26:39) and as a result, God hears each prayer for salvation in Christ. How does it speak to you that Christ knows what it is like to have a prayer request not be granted?
2. Is there anything that you have stopped praying for because God hasn’t yet answered? How can you start praying again?
3. In his book The Magician’s Nephew, C.S. Lewis opines about Aslan, the figure for Christ, that while Aslan is very willing to help, that “he likes to be asked.” Why might God enjoy receiving our prayer requests? While God does not grant every prayer request, what develops in us as we develop a habit of asking God for our needs and desires?
