Sharing Good News when Bad News Sells: Jesus is Lord of What’s Wrong

EXPERIENCE & ENCOUNTER

These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.

  1. There were three pictures that communicated Christ’s lordship: expelling a demon, healing a viral illness, healing a chronic condition. In each case, Christ has authority. Which story most clearly communicates Christ’s authority to you?
  2. Jesus goes back to the wilderness, the site of His encounter with the devil, to pray. He emerges with conviction of His calling. Even the “wilderness” can be a place where we hear from God. Where do you hear most clearly from God?
  3. After Jesus heals Peter’s mother, she begins to serve them. If you are in Christ, you have experienced a healing. Perhaps it is physical, perhaps it is emotional, perhaps it is spiritual. Perhaps your healing has been in more than one area. However you have experienced healing, you are healed so that you may serve. What do you think of the idea that our healing is connected to our calling? Does your healing connect with your area of service or your calling?
