Wednesday Night Classes

January 9, 2019 - April 24, 2019|7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Every spring and fall, we offer a variety of classes at King Street Church.  They are a great way to connect with others, to meet people with similar interests, and to deepen your walk with the Lord.

Nursery/Children’s Programs are offered through March. A parent must stay on-site for Nursery, Pre-School and Kindergarten children.

Our new season of study began January 9th.  It is often helpful to join at the beginning of the series; our next season will begin the first week of September.  A major exception is our GriefShare class, which begins February 9th and welcomes new participants at any time.

If you are eager to start another class midway through the spring, call Molly Shull, Administrative Assistant to Pastor Jay Brown, our Pastor of Mission & Discipleship.  Pastor Jay can help you to choose a class that is right for you.

The spring 2019 offerings include:

MARRIAGE FOCUS GROUP: “Sacred Marriage”:  Kevin & Lisa Moore/Justin & Denise Sites (B201)   Happy is good. Holy is better. Your marriage is more than a sacred covenant with another person. It is a spiritual discipline designed to help you know God better, trust him more fully, and love him more deeply.  What if God’s primary intent for your marriage isn’t to make you happy . . . but holy?

JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE:  This course (formerly Discipleship) is a four part study designed to assist believers in their understanding of the Bible and apply Biblical truth in ministry and evangelism.  The Spring sessions are continuations from the fall and are closed to new participants, but please plan on joining us for the new sessions in the fall.

Part 2: Old Testament—Prophets: Tim Sherald (M24):  This section focuses on OT books Job through Malachi, studying those who spoke of the coming Messiah.

Part 4: New Testament—Church: Jim Washabaugh (M9):  This section focuses on NT books Acts through Revelation, studying the Christian Church.

WOMEN’S CLASS: “Intriguing Women of the Bible”:  Patti Hann (M2) Every woman sitting in a church pew today is dealing with “something,” be it good, bad, frustrating or even tragic.  We will learn wisdom and help from women of the Bible who dealt with these same kinds of issues.

WOMEN’S CLASS: “Why Her?”:  Stephanie White (M28) Do you enviously watch others enjoy the things you’ve always wanted for yourself? In Why Her?, Koziarz unpacks the biblical story of Rachel and Leah along with her own experiences with failed dreams, dashed hopes, and paralyzing comparisons. She shares six biblical truths that can settle you in a satisfying place where God’s acceptance of you is all that matters.

MEN’S CLASS: Goliath Must Fall: Mike White, Fred Ailes, Lowell Martin (M27/29)  Pastor Louie Giglio examines the story of David and Goliath to reveal how we must keep our eyes on Jesus, the only giant-slayer, to defeat the giants of fear, rejection, complacency, anxiety, anger, and addiction in our lives.

GRIEF SHARE (Starting February 6): Brian Knepper and Kathy Cooper (M121)  This 13 week faith-based support group is for those suffering the loss of a loved one.  It is led by those who have also experienced loss.  The group begins their time of sharing and discussion with a video.

POTTERY (led by Don & Mary Burkholder):  This class is full for the spring 2019 seasons.   Those who are already on Don and Mary’s list are encouraged to attend, of course.  Those wishing to be included in the fall can sign up for the waiting list.  Participants learn hand-building techniques and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Cost is $20.
