MEETING JESUS

We believe there is no decision more important than surrendering your life to Jesus Christ, and starting a “faith journey” with Him as your Savior and Lord. This is the essence of what the Bible calls salvation.  Salvation is not a formula you say or an action you complete. Salvation comes by transferring your trust from yourself, or from anyone or anything else — to Jesus Christ alone.  Here are a few steps commonly involved in the process:

Salvation is not a formula you say or an action you complete. Salvation comes by transferring your trust from yourself, or from anyone or anything else (parents, church, stuff you did, possessions, achievements)—to Christ alone.

There are a few steps involved in the process:

ADMIT that you desperately need saving from the sin that separates you from God. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23. “There is no one righteous, not even one,” Romans 3:10. Turn away from your sin toward Jesus. “There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,” I Timothy 2:5

BELIEVE in Jesus as the only Savior. “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved,” Acts 16:31. By his death on the cross and resurrection from the grave, Jesus defeated sin and death. All who trust in him receive salvation as a gift from God. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 6:23.

CONFESS Jesus before others. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved,” Romans 10:9. Faith in Christ is not a secret, private matter. “Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven,” Matthew 10:32.

Here is a prayer that can guide you in becoming a Christian:

Lord God, I see I am more flawed and sinful than I ever dared believe, but that I am even more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I turn from my old life of living for myself. I have nothing in myself to merit your approval, but I now receive and rest in what Jesus did for me (in his life, death, and resurrection) and ask to be accepted into God’s family for his sake.  Amen.

When you pray this prayer in faith here’s what happens: your accounts are cleared, your sins are wiped out permanently, you are adopted into God’s family and the Holy Spirit enters your heart and begins to change you into the character of Jesus.
