The Beatitudes: God’s Comfort in a World of Hurts

10/12/2025|Pastor Aaron Perry

Experience & Encounter

These questions are an invitation to experience your life with God. Use them on your own or in community as you seek to follow Jesus.

  1. Pastor Aaron gave three pictures of mourning. We mourn: the brokenness of the world, the sufferings we receive, and the sin we commit. Which of these kinds of mourning stands out to you?
  2. In Revelation 18, John sees people mourning the destruction of a wealthy, wicked city filled with injustice. Pastor Aaron said that not all mourning is valuable or right. Have you ever heard this idea? Hillsong’s song “Hosanna” says, “Break my heart for what breaks yours.” How can our hearts be broken for what breaks God’s heart?
  3. Pastor Aaron said that God’s comfort is that the world will be set right, that our wounds are and will be healed, and that our sins are forgiven. Which of these comforts is most important to you?
