Maundy Thursday Communion Service
On Thursday, April 17, you are invited to join us for a Maundy Thursday Communion Service at 6:00 pm in the Baker Center. We are going to sit at round tables and share in communion together. If you can’t attend in person, this service will be live-streamed at 6 pm from the Baker Center to our website, Facebook and YouTube. If you are worshipping with us online we invite you to prepare your own elements (cracker and juice) at home and participate with us.
The word “maundy” is an abbreviated form of the Latin word “mandatum,” which means command, or mandate. When Jesus was sharing the Last Supper with His disciples He told them, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34) We celebrate Maundy Thursday to remember the Last Supper, to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus, and to meditate on this commandment to love and serve others.
