Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. We welcome the opportunity to invest in the significant commitment you are making in marriage. Please read the following information describing our policies and procedures for weddings at King Street Church.  The prospective bride and/or groom must be a regular attender of King Street. The size of our congregation and available resources limit our ability to accommodate couples from outside the church.

The bride and groom must individually confess a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior. King Street Church Pastors will not join an unbeliever to a believer in marriage (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). God´s Word is clear about spiritual compatibility between marriage partners.  We also adhere to the Family Standards of the UB Discipline (ub.org) and to the Biblical mandate of Matthew 19:4-6 in that we only perform a covenant wedding ceremony between one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27.)

Because God ordained marriage and defined it as the covenant relationship between a man, a woman, and himself, the Church of the United Brethren in Christ USA will only recognize marriages between a genetic, biological man and a genetic, biological woman.  Further, the ministers classified with the authority to conduct weddings shall only participate in weddings and solemnize marriages between one man and one woman.  Finally, the facilities and property of churches in covenant with the Church of the United Brethren in Christ USA shall only host weddings between one genetic, biological man, and one genetic, biological woman.

The bride and groom must abstain from inappropriate sexual intimacy. Sex is a gift from the God who created it. Despite what society finds acceptable, those who claim to follow Jesus must obey God´s directions regarding our sexuality (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). The Bible gives us clear instruction for sex within the parameters of the marriage relationship (1 Corinthians 7:1-5). God´s Word also gives us clear warnings and consequences when sex is used outside of the marriage (Hebrews 13:4).

Couples who are physically intimate or living together, are asked to move apart and covenant to abstain from their sexual relationship until their wedding day. We encourage you to make this commitment, understanding this is God´s best for your marriage relationship.

Premarital classes are required for those who seek to be married at King Street. For those who have been previously married, we strongly encourage you to attend Divorce Care prior to entering into marriage.

Schedule a premarital interview with the officiating Pastor. Interviews are scheduled Monday through Thursday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM through the church office (717-264-4651). At the interview, the Pastor will go over the King Street policies for weddings and become more acquainted with the couple. This would be the time when the Premarital Covenant is discussed and signed.

After the interview, the couple will receive a KSC Wedding Arrangement Form. Fill out this form as directed and submit to the church office for approval of the date and conditions.
