Fit for a King Exercise Class

Lance Walker leads “Fit for a King” Monday mornings 9–10:15 and Friday mornings 9:15 –10:30 in the Student Ministry Center (under the Baker Center). Lance has been a personal trainer/fitness instructor since 1998 and also is a competitive body builder, massage therapist and barber. He is married with three kids. Wanting to use his passion as a fitness instructor to serve the Lord, Lance has been leading this free class at King Street for many years. “Fit for a King” is for both men and women, working hard (and doing some panting and groaning) as Lance exclaims, “Good stuff!” “Now we’re cooking with grease!” and “I love it!” Actually the class agrees.

The class is a combination of resistance, strength training, overall toning and cardio, plus prayer and wonderful fellowship. It’s mostly retired folks, so we have our own aches and pains. Lance modifies each exercise, so all levels of ability can participate – including you!  Balls, mats, and stretch bands is so appreciated. All participants need to bring is a water bottle.

As Lance quotes at class, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19 – 20).
