Christmas at King Street

Christmas is one of our favorite seasons at King Street Church.  On Sunday mornings throughout December, we will enjoy special music during worship services.  We invite you to participate in any one (or all!) of these activities which celebrate the birth of Christ!

Waiting for Jesus Christmas Event

Our KidMin Children’s Ministry invites families to a special Christmas event on Sunday, December 7, from 5:30–7:30 pm in the Baker Center gym. Together we’ll take a journey through Scripture — from Isaiah’s prophecies spoken 700 years before Christ’s birth, to the night our Savior was born, and what that means for us today. We’ll share a meal, sing Christmas songs, enjoy games, and make a craft that helps us keep our focus on Jesus this Christmas. Each family will also take home resources to help reflect on the Advent season.  It’s going to be a wonderful evening for our children and families!  Sign up at kingstreetchurch.com/Jesus.

Piano & Organ Concert

On Sunday, December 21, we will meet at 4:00 pm in the Sanctuary for a musical celebration. This traditional service will be filled with beloved Christmas music performed by gifted musicians. There will be more than twenty separate pieces.  We’ll hear from the Adult Choir and Bell Choir, along with a saxophone duet by Bill Chenaille and Kathryn Mullen, and a trombone selection by Gary Sipes. Pastor Aaron and his son Donovan will share a piano duet, Emma Beth Perry will perform a piano solo, Bob Ramsey and Phil Shuman will present duets on piano and organ, and many more.  It’s a peaceful, joy-filled way to slow down, savor the season, and let the music of Christmas lift our hearts.  If you’re unable to make it in-person, tune in at live.kingstreetchurch.com, through Roku or Apple TV, or Facebook.

Christmas Eve Services

Christmas Eve services will be held on Wednesday, December 24.

ALL services will feature the lighting of the Christmas candles. Childcare is offered for ages 3 and under at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.

Closer to Christmas Eve, we will have more detailed information about our Christmas Eve offering, and the message.  Here are the times:

  • Sanctuary: 3:00, 5:00 and 7:00 pm – traditional worship
  • Baker Center: 3:00 and 5:00 pm – contemporary worship

Light in the Night

Light in the Night is a gentle, reflective gathering hosted by our RESET ministry for anyone who could use a quiet moment of peace during the holiday season. We know this time of year can hold both joy and challenge — and it’s okay to show up just as you are. Join us on Monday, December 15, at 6:30 pm in the Baker Center as we share in worship, Scripture, reflection, and meaningful moments that remind us that the light of Christ shines even in the darkest nights. We’ll have time for community with one another, a few special elements woven throughout the evening, and cookies together afterward. Come rest, breathe, and remember that hope is near.

Poinsettia Dedications

In late November we will begin offering the opportunity to dedicate a Christmas poinsettia in honor of or in memory of a loved one ($10.50 per plant). You can pick up a form in the lobby, sign up at the church office at 56 N. Second Street, or pay online at kingstreetchurch.com/flower. Deadline for orders is Monday, December 15.

Administrative Office Hours

The church Administrative Office and the church buildings will be closed:

  • Thursday and Friday, December 25 and 26
  • Thursday, January 1

Sunday, December 28

Join us for a special post-Christmas worship Sunday as all services—8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 am—gather together in the Sanctuary. Our service will be slightly shorter, and children ages 2 and up are invited to remain with their families for worship. Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas for this fun holiday morning! Pastor Aaron will share a children-friendly devotional, and activity sheets will be available to help engage our younger worshipers. We look forward to celebrating and worshiping together as a church family during this special holiday weekend. Children’s classes will not meet; a nursery will be available for babies under age 2.  Students will gather at 9:30 am in the SMC to hear from NETwork Step Team.

Advent Devotionals

Advent begins on Sunday, November 30, and we are providing devotionals to help you prepare for the season. This year, we offer both digital and printed copies of “Our Dear Christ Enters In” by Jane Wilke, as well as paper copies of “A Grand Miracle: Inspiration from C.S. Lewis.” Pick up a paper copy in the church lobbies, text “advent” to (717) 401-7777 to receive daily devotionals to your phone, visit our advent page to download a copy, or subscribe below to get emails in your inbox.
